Diabetology Center

The Diabetology Centre at ATTIKON University Hospital provides comprehensive outpatient services on a daily basis and manages the care of thousands of patients annually who present with various metabolic disorders, including:

At the same time, a variety of health promotion programs are implemented, such as:

  • Training of patients in the administration of insulin and other injectable therapies by specialized nursing staff.
  • Providing training in nutritional equivalents in collaboration with the Nutrition Department
  • Installing continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGMs) and offering training on their use.

In line with the educational nature of the Center, the training of Pathology residents takes place throughout their clinical rotations, while Medical Students receive training as part of their undergraduate studies. Since 2024, the Center provides two specialization positions in Diabetes Mellitus.

The following actions are part of the continuous research activity of all members of the Center:

  • Creation of an electronic portal of the Diabetes Center, where the clinical and educational activities of the center are reported
  • Installation of the Galaxy system, which is a means of monitoring diabetics with modern technology, and interconnection with European diabetes centers.
  • Multicenter Clinical Studies (>20 up to and including 2024)
  • NSRF Programs
  • Independent Research Protocols, of which numerous are Doctoral Theses
  • Publications in international journals
  • Oral and written presentations at domestic and international conferences
