On behalf of the faculty and trainees of the 2nd Propaedeutic Department of Internal Medicine, I would like to welcome you to our website. We are eager to help you learn more about our department’s rich array of programs in research, clinical care, and education. As you read through these materials, I believe you will discover a department that is both inspired by the richness of its traditions and determined to meet the extraordinary opportunities that confront the modern Department of Medicine The Department of Internal Medicine is among the nation's premier departments, bringing together an elite cadre of clinicians, investigators, and educators in one of the world's top medical schools. The department of Internal Medicine includes the Section of Hematology and Bone Marrow transplantation, the Section of Medical Oncology, the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, the Diabetes Center, the Section of Nephrology, the Section of Gastroenterology. Our department is located at Attikon Hospital, a tertiary care facility that is one of the NKUA medical school's primary teaching hospitals. It treats 77.426 inpatients and registers more than 143,289 outpatient visits at its various departments.

About the Department 

 The 2nd Propaedeutic Department of Internal Medicine is recognized as one of the leading departments in the country. It brings together a dedicated team of clinicians, researchers, educators, and staff, and serves as a major teaching hospital for one of the world’s top medical schools, the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).

This department encompasses several specialized sections, including Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Medical Oncology, and the Diabetes Center.

Additionally, the Department includes a Clinical and Translational Research Unit, which fosters an inspiring scientific environment and a collaborative culture, offering numerous interdisciplinary and translational research opportunities. The Diabetes Center also offers a dedicated 2-year program for Subspecialty Certification in Diabetes.
