Georgia Gomatou graduated from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 2015. After graduation, she worked as a rural doctor at the Health Centre of Gytheion, Lakonia. From 2017 to 2023 she did her residency in Internal Medicine and her fellowship in Medical Oncology at the Third Department of Internal Medicine of the General Hospital "SOTIRIA" in Athens. She obtained the Hellenic board certification of Medical Oncology in 2023. She also successfully passed the ESMO Examination 2023 and is, therefore, certified by the European Society of Medical Oncology.
She holds a Master's degree (MSc) in "New Drugs Development: research, launch and access" from the Medical School of the University of Athens. In 2022, she received her PhD from the Medical School of the University of Athens. Her PhD thesis focused on the pathogenesis of lung cancer in patients with interstitial lung diseases. She is the author of >35 research articles and a reviewer in >10 academic journals.
Since October 2024 she joined the 2nd Propedeutic Department of Internal Medicine in Attikon University Hospital as an Academic Scholar of Medical Oncology.
