Athanasios Papaefstathiou is a Biologist, a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff with a grade A and a specialty in "Endocrinology", in the Unit of Endocrinology and Metabolic Bone Diseases, of the 2nd Pre-educational Pathological Clinic, of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens at the "Attikon" General Hospital. He graduated from the Department of Biology of the University of Patras in 1985. From 1989 to 1994, he worked as a Biologist-Researcher in the Department of Electron Microscopy of the Research-Experimental Laboratory of the "Agios Savvas" Anti-Cancer Hospital.
In 1996, he obtained an MSc in Public Health from the National School of Public Health.
Since then, he has been working at the 2nd Pre-University Pathology Clinic of the University of Athens ("Evangelismos" Hospital until 2003, and then at the "Attikon" General Hospital).
His research interests focus on the study of metabolic bone diseases, which are reflected in publications in prestigious international scientific journals and numerous presentations at Greek and international conferences.
