Konstantinos Balambanis is a physician specializing in Internal Medicine and specializing in Diabetes Mellitus. He studied at the University of Patras Medical School where he completed his studies in 2004. Then, in parallel with the field service, he began his postgraduate studies and completed his doctoral thesis at the University of Patras Medical School. The subject of study of this thesis was patients with Morbid Obesity and Diabetes Mellitus who underwent bariatric surgery. In 2007, he began his specialization in pathology at the 2nd Preparatory Pathology Clinic and the Diabetes Center of ATTIKON Hospital, where he completed it in 2013 after successfully participating in the internal medicine specialty exams. Subsequently, he continued to participate in the work of the clinic and the diabetes center - Research Unit of the 2nd General Hospital of the Republic of Cyprus as an Academic Fellow of Pathology - Diabetes Mellitus - Obesity. From 2013 onwards, in this capacity, he participated as a sub-investigator in more than 18 clinical trials (phase II, III & IV) on cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, obesity, fatty liver (NAFLD) and dyslipidemias. At the same time, all these years he maintains a private practice focusing on the targeted treatment and management of patients with diabetes mellitus, obesity and metabolic syndrome. Since 2019, he has been an associate of the Medical Department of the Pharm. ASTRA ZENECA as a medical educator, with the aim of informing and educating physicians on the latest data in the pharmaceutical category of SGLT-2. Therapeutic areas of interest include Diabetes Mellitus, cardiovascular diseases, obesity, dyslipidemias, hypertension and heart failure.
